. Jenny's priority is to listen to the different needs of the community of New Haw and take action on its behalf. There are currently no Labour or Lib Dem councillors in Runnymede. Jenny Coulon will hold the local council to account for its decisions, using her experience as a self-employed project manager and 20 years in management roles. Jenny is particularly concerned about access to services for the elderly, and challenging Runnymede Borough Council to raise its environmental performance.
has worked in small and large organisations, both public and private, in a twenty-five year career in Information Technology. He has worked in Egham and has commuted by car and train. Andy looks forward to being able to bring extensive relevant experience into local government. Living on the south side of Egham, Andy is familiar with the threats of pollution and congestion inherent in the plans for Airtrack, gravel extraction and University expansion. He is proud of our long established Lib Dem positions on decentralisation and political reform.
A candidate for Runnymede at every election since 1978, Peter is currently Chair of the Runnymede Branch of the LibDems and has been an active Liberal since 1974. He served as an architect in Local Government for 26 years, working for three different councils, most recently as a specialist in sheltered housing, which would all provide him with vital experience as a councillor. Peter has campaigned passionately for a local swimming pool, and highlights the £20,000,000 spent instead on the new council offices, while the former site remains two piles of rubble instead of being sold for the budgeted new housing.
has lived in Chertsey for 19 years. He has been an active member of the Liberal Democrat Party since its foundation, and an active liberal for many years before that. As Chair of the Runnymede Branch he helped set up the new constituency organisation in 1996, and has been our candidate in Chertsey for many years. Recently retired, he can now devote more time to his local interests – he is a member of the Chertsey Society, the Friends of Chertsey Museum, and St Peter’s Shared Church.
lives in Englefield Green and has been an active LibDem member for many years, standing for Runnymede Council and the County Council. Last year LibDems campaigned against the Tory-run County Council’s plans to build a central incineration plant in this ward at Trumps Farm. It was intended to take the waste of the whole of Surrey. Thankfully that plan has been dropped. But now the County has cut the road maintenance budget at a time when we have a plague of potholes. Saving a few pence on council tax may cause hundreds of pounds of damage to cars and bicycles, and endanger lives, highlighting the lack of ‘joined-up government.’
lives in Hythe Ward and runs his own business. His spare time is devoted to charity work for the Round Table (he runs a charity Farm for them) and the Chertsey Agricultural Society. An active LibDem, he has been candidate for this ward many times. Dorian supports the petition signed by 500 Hythe residents against the Airtrack scheme. All Surrey councils opposed it with the exception of Runnymede, and all the MPs round Heathrow except Spelthorne MP David Wilshire. The scheme would mean level crossings being closed 50 minutes in every hour and trains running all night long. Tough on people who live near the line and anyone waiting for a fire engine or ambulance.
regrettably we are unable to offer voters a Liberal Democrat option in some wards in Runnymede.
